Tiger Moth

Hypercompe sp

Description:

Rescued this guy from a downpour. Its wings were already a bit damaged by the rain. As I picked it up, it released a brown fluid and exposed the orange upperside of the abdomen. Body length was about 3.5cm, making the wingspan about 8-9cm. White colouration with thin brown lines on upperside of thorax and wings; abdomen with orange markings on top.

Habitat:

Found in San Pedro La Laguna, Lake Atitlán.
