Red-shouldered Hawk

Buteo lineatus

Description:

Note: "Florida birds are very pale, particularly on head and breast. Reddish-orange patch on shoulder. Orange barring on breast." see reference page

Habitat:

deciduous woodlands, often near rivers and swamps.

Notes:

This is the typical pale south Florida variety adult. It was sharing a perch high up on a tall Royal Palm with some cormorants and vultures. Did my best with the zoom on my "point and shoot" but couldn't get many angles.
