Carolinian Ghost Shrimp

Callichirus major

Description:

A bizarre looking shrimp with a soft, translucent lower body and one big claw. These are the critters that make the little holes in the sand at the edge of the water, which often have the shrimp's fecal pellets around them. They hide in these burrows and occasionally come to the entrance to hunt with their big claws.
