Philobota Moth

Philobota arabella

Description:

This beautiful small moth had a wing span of about 25 mm. Was mostly a bright orange with a dark streak running along the costa of the fore wings. The submarginal areas were a shimmery grey-green.

Habitat:

Spotted amongst low plants in dry woodlands in a National Park (Churchill NP)

Notes:

Caterpillars of this moth feed on dead leaves of gum trees.
Moths are seen in September & October. Family: Oecophoridae
