Description:

Considered as one of the Big 4 venomous snakes of India, Russell's Viper venom is Hemotoxic. This snake species is notoriously famous for being responsible for the most snakebite incidents and deaths among all venomous snakes in India. Daboia is a monotypic genus which derived its name from a Hindi word that means "the lurker" or " one that lies hidden".

Habitat:

Open dry land with scrubs and bushes.

Thank you for this spotting Vipul! I really appreciate these wide-angle close-ups. Our acronym Noah stands for Networked Organisms And Habitat, and these shots do wonders to show details of smaller wildlife and their habitat all in one single picture. At the same time we don't want everyone to attempt this type of shot with venomous snakes :-) Can you tell us how close you got and what type of precautions you had to take to secure this image?
