Viola odorata
A low, somewhat kairy perennial. Leaves in basal tuft, sparsely hairy to hairless, oval to triangular-heart-shaped, rounded, dark green, often with convex margins, stipules shortly fringed. Flowers violet or mauve, 13-15 mm, fragrant.
Damp and shaded places, among rocks and bushes, close to streams, not at sea level. Here spotted in an oak forest (800 m. altitude), near Stavropotamos (Kastoria, Greece).
Greek name: Ίον το εύοσμον. Greek common name: Μενεξές.
