Wild Comfrey

cynoglossum virginianum

Description:

Cynoglossum virginianum, also known as the wild comfrey, is a plant native to United States. It is also sometimes called the blue houndstongue. It gets its name from the appearance of its leaves that look like the a dog's tongue, which translates to Cynoglossum in Greek. It can cause dermatitis because it contains alkaloids that cause liver and pancreas tumors in rats. Therefore, if a person has sensitive skin, caution is advised.

Thank you so much Despina. I read the description of this plant and found out that so many of my wild findings (mushrooms, spiders, and plants) are either harmful or/and poisonous. I would not touch or eat, but it is sad and discouraging.... :-(

Dear @Riekos, I think that your delicate flower must be a wild comfrey (cynoglossum virginianum), or some cynoglossum species...
