Dictyophara sp.
Long snout dictyopharid planthopper (genus Dictyophara (Germar, 1833), tribe Dictyopharini), body about 1cm in length. See notes in this related spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/170.... IDd before as Dictyophara patruelis (Stål, 1859), but there's no Philippine record to support this. Also, D. patruelis is now called Raivuna patruelis, but Raivuna distribution map does not show the Philippines as well (http://hemiptera-databases.org/flow/?pag...).
Spotted in the backyard, in Biñan Laguna, Philippines.
Compare with: http://potokito-myshot.blogspot.com/2012.... Dictyomorpha hectica is found in the Philippines but there's no available picture to compare with. (http://hemiptera-databases.org/flow/?pag...). Synonym with Dictyophara hectica? (http://ag.udel.edu/enwc/research/delphac...). But again, there's no available pic to compare with. Dictyophara cribrata was mentioned in this paper as occurring in the Philippines, but no other reference or picture available (http://books.google.com.ph/books?id=rtTZ...). Dictyopharina exists in the Philippines (http://hemiptera-databases.org/flow/?pag...), but no pics available also.
@Ashish, there is a palm plant about 10 meters away from the actual spotting. Although as of now, this is my first and only spotting of this kind.
Thanks Arvin. Before this spotting, I did not know that this type of planthopper even existed :) Ah.. magic of PN :)
