Woolly bear caterpillar

Pyrrharctia isabella

Description:

Black caterpillar with dark orange stripes

Habitat:

Northwest Indiana, I found it by grass

Notes:

This is the first caterpillar I have found in January, I found it lying on the sidewalk outside curled up in a ball. It was alive, but it looked as if it was trying to appear dead.
