Cool. Thanks Nathan & Neil for your help. Maybe I have previous skink spotting incorrectly ID'd too? From memory they were so different in size. Thanks again :)

I'd say it's a Eulamprus of some sort. Amplus seems to be the most likely, but could be a brachysoma or sokosoma? You can check out the other Eulamprus species here - http://www.arod.com.au/arod/reptilia/Squ....

Thank you Neil & Mark. Neil, I also looked at the same ID for this skink, but this one was much, much larger, & missing the black mark above the front leg. Thank you for your suggestion, I'll see what pops up :)

Leanne, if you scroll down to the bottom of the reference page, there's a good photo of this species. It was found in Finch Hatton Gorge in Eungella National Park, and is pretty much limited to that part of the range. They reckon it's quite a rare species. Fingers crossed :-)

That's a really lovely spotting, Leanne, and a real tuffy to ID. I haven't found anything that comes close, other than a skink in desert areas of QLD. Perseverance is called for, I think.
