Homoeocerus marginellus
Coreid bug, about 2cm. in length. Homoeocerus marginellus (Herrich-Schäffer, 1840), family Coreidae, subfamily Coreinae, tribe Homoeocerini. Distribution: http://coreoidea.speciesfile.org/Common/... IDd Mar 4, 2013.
Spotted in the backyard, in Biñan Laguna, Philippines.
Reference: http://www.insecte.org/forum/viewtopic.p... Notes before I was able to ID this: Sp. appearance near Gonocerus acuteangulatus (Box Bug), and Gonocerus insidiator (http://www.biolib.cz/en/taxon/id71452/). I found a blog site that identified this bug as the Box Bug (http://www.natureloveyou.sg/Minibeast-Bu...), however, this is the only site to identify the species as such. All the other images of the Gonocerus acuteangulatus (Box Bug) do not have the two black dots on the back. Also, genus Gonocerus does not include the Philippines in its distribution range (http://coreoidea.speciesfile.org/Common/...).

Thanks shebebusynow and apologies for the delayed reply. Finally! I've IDd this coreid bug - Homoeocerus marginellus. :)
I've seen what's called Box Elder Bugs that look very similar in shape, but are red and black.
Thanks Arvin.
wow.. nice series..
@shebebusynow, Thanks for the suggestion.
Looks like one of the many species of shield bug.
