Description:

This beautiful Satyrinae butterfly sat quite still for me and allowed me to get close. Lethe diana is a brush-footed butterfly (subfamily Satyrinae) in the Nymphalidae family. Its wings are a dark shade of brown, with an eyespot pattern, and a wingspan of about 45–55 mm.

Habitat:

Seen in a darkish place under trees in a little park in the outer suburbs of Tokyo.
