Coast Range Fence Lizard

Sceloporus occidentalis bocourtii

Description:

Common fence lizard of coastal and bay area. Colors maybe variable depending on location and season. This one was brown with blue pattern on back. Most fence lizards are also known as Blue bellies.

Habitat:

These were seen mostly on the sides of the trail in the tree roots, tree debris and weeds.

Notes:

We observed this one chasing another one and it had bit the end of the tail off and kept it in it's mouth.
