Woodhouse's Toad

Anaxyrus woodhousii australis

Description:

This is a toad commonly seen in our yard and surrounding areas. Wikipedia indicates there are two subspecies, the Rocky Mountain, and the Southwest. Not being an expert on toads, I elected the Southwestern, as the Rocky Mountain does not extend into Nevada, per Wikipedia. I am open to suggestions. We usually only see these guys at night. In the spring mating season, they make a lot of noise at night...presumably looking for a mate (2nd photo above).

Habitat:

Desert riparian areas, and urban areas in the Mojave Desert.
