Feral Pigeon

Columba sp.

Description:

Unlike the usual Feral pigeons this has more than a hint of Woodpigeon about it. With an unusually large bill, yellow eye ring and white primaries and rump it tries to look like something more exotic. I could not see if it had any rings on the legs, but my guess is that it has escaped from captivity rather than hatched in the wild. It may even have been some type of exotic pet.

Habitat:

Village on limestone outcrop in foothills of Los Serranos mountains.
