Wood-nettle

Laportea canadensis

Description:

This plant was just under two feet tall. The leaves and stem was green while the flowers were white. The stems on wood nettle can sting you, but not as bad as the sting from a stinging-nettle plant.

Habitat:

In the forest near the Grotto Falls trail.

Notes:

The way that you can tell the difference between stinging-nettle and wood nettle is that stinging-nettle has opposite leaves while the wood-nettles' are alternate.
