"Spotting of the Day! White its more northern counterparts are busy caching nuts and seeds for winter, this Red-bellied Tree Squirrel (Callosciurus erythraeus) enjoys some fresh fruit in sub-tropical Hong Kong. Also known as Pallas's squirrel, this squirrel species is found in Greater China, India, and Southeast Asia. The familiar squirrel family, Sciuridae, is a large group comprising 273 species in 50 genera found on all continents with the exception of Australia (unless introduced) and Antarctica. The squirrel family includes tree squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks, marmots and flying squirrels, and its members are found in a variety of habitats from forest to desert".
