Red Squirrel

Sciurus Vulgaris

Notes:

I spotted the squirrel while I was driving in a little town (about 30 000 hab). I parked my car and walked back for a chance to take a picture (I always bring my camera in my bag, in case I spot something) and was not disappointed. It was very shy and fleed as soon as he saw me but luckily he took the time to pause and pose for me a few times before reaching his home tree and hide. I felt very Lucky as it is the first time I saw one from that close. Red squirrel are becoming rare and are hard enough (almost impossible) to spot in the woods, I never thought I would spot one in the heart of a little town! I'm glad I spotted this one before the near invasion of grey squirrel coming from the italian Alps.
