Description:

About 40 cm high, with dark blue, almost black, crown. Its dark blue scoop-like bill is perfect for catching fish in the swamp and surrounding rivers.

Habitat:

Spotted patiently hunting for fish in a mangrove swamp near Kelly Creek in the national park.

Notes:

Spotted in Cahuita National Park, Costa Rica
