Tyto alba
Just one day old, these two babies have their eyes closed and very little feathers on their body. They aren't very mobile, the one on the right had his head in the dirt (like his head was too heavy) and was trying to wiggle his body around. Was pretty amusing to watch!
In an old train car lifted off the ground in cropland. Mom was caching rodents in the corner for a snack later.
On a friends property, he had found the nest last year and told me about it. He checked it every few days when he saw eggs in it again this year, and once he saw the first baby hatch I came out the next day to photograph them. I've been going out once a week and photographing them to document their development, will post more series of them soon.
