Soursop Tree

Annona muricata

Description:

An odd looking fruit, but quite good tasting, a sort of sweet sour flavor.

Habitat:

Spotted at Ala Wai Community Gardens.

Notes:

The seeds of the soursop fruit contain annonacin, which in some laboratory tests when regularly ingested lead to brain lesions, such as seen in Parkinson's disease. Paradoxically, an extract from the leaves may be successful in lowering elevated blood pressure by decreasing the resistance to blood flow.

Love these, to me they always reminded me of a juicer version of a sour green apple!
