County lifer. I used to see them all the time in CA, now it's a real treat to find one. He was on the Coconino county border in a juniper dominated area.

By range. This is the only interior US subspecies. There are actually quite a few! Yours is most likely a Nicasio Western Scrub Jay, Aphelocoma californica oocleptica.
