Colias erate
An average-sized butterfly, quite bright and restless, it hardly stayed at a spot. I at first thought it to be an Indian Cabbage White, but looks different at a closer range.
Garden of the hotel we had put up at Leh. There were only green grass of early spring, that too maintained by daily watering - and no flowering plants. Other plants were short pruned willow as hedge running along the walkway. Altitude: about 12,000 ft.
In that brief morning bright sun I spotted this pretty butterfly hovering around at the hotel garden and I couln't resist but on all fours dive for it (later in the evening other doctors were asking me why I was lying down on the garden in full suite and tie?). Managed to get three quick shots, that's all I was bothered about!
Thanks Jae for liking it. Butterfly at 12,000 ft? Till date I got only this!
