Cardinal

Argynnis pandora

Description:

4 to 5 cm in wingspan, wings orange with dark spots

Habitat:

Common species in Mediterranean. Here observed in flying in shadow in a well wooded area in Krka NP of Croatia. The park is in the place where river Krka forms a series of waterfalls and lakes; it is surrounded by a magnificent dense broad-leaved forest, and its shallow coastal waters are rich in vegetation.

You're welcome Zlatan. The underside is unmistakable. I've been lucky to see them in Valais, where there's an established colony.
