Desfontainia spinosa

Description:

Often used as an ornamental plant. It has glossy dark green, holly-like leaves, and waxy red tubular flowers, often with yellow tips, and reaching 4 cm in length.

Habitat:

southern temperate forest, understory plant in southern Beech forest

Notes:

I saw huge shrubs of Desfontainia in the forest of Nahuelbuta national park.
