Chorisia (Ceiba) speciosa
The flowers are a bit past their prime as I am a month later this year. Flowers have 5 large pink tipped petals with a white center. The trunk is not made to lean against because of the projecting thorns.
Prefers a Southern climate. Parrots are supposed to enjoy their seeds.

Beautiful blooming tree!
Lovely, we have a beautiful specimen that was planted on the road side of the Government Enclave here in Gaborone, probably 40 years ago. It looks glorious when it flowers.
Wow! That is a beauty!
Ooh can you send me some seeds to plant?! =D Lol
Nice tree Alice we have plenty of those here and they are beautiful; greetings.
