Black-bellied Plover

Pluvialis squatarola

Description:

A large shorebird, called "Gray Plover" by some. In basic plumage they are grayish-brown, but in alternate plumage they are white on the face and sides with a black belly. In all plumages they show distinctive black axillaries.
