Spotted in a pond in Willowbrook Park.
As per the observation of locals (and perhaps even a documented trend), these turtles are declining in number, relative to the red-eared sliders on the island. This is because the red-eared sliders, which were often released into the Wild due to the pet trade, compete for the same resources as painted turtles. https://www.silive.com/news/2018/05/worl...
