Brown, mottled with white and black spots and stripes; red hourglass marking on underside of abdomen.
Closely associated with human habitations, at least in the United States.
This is a potentially dangerous spider. Egg sacs are distinctive, tufted objects in the webs of mature females. The spider is usually out in its web only at night. By day it is concealed in a crevice or under debris. More information here: http://bugeric.blogspot.com/2011/06/spid...
