Peucetia viridans
Green spider found on porch while looking at moth with half a wing. The moth flys well despite wing damage. Low 80's and mostly sunny today.
The Green Lynx Spider is found on all kinds of shrub-like plants throughout the southern United States, Mexico, Central America, Venezuela and the West Indies. You can find the Green Lynx Spider in woods on tall grasses and in meadows of tall wildflowers, especially on the heads of wild buckwheat. The Green Lynx Spider is a common resident in Texas Upper Gulf Coast landscapes and gardens.
This is a hobby that I have picked up to encourage my young sons' interest in science. I appreciate your information and cannot believe I made the silly mistake of classifying it as an "insect" by adding it to "Insects of Florida". It was done in an enthusiastic rush.
Hi there, several things wrong with this spotting. First and most importantly, each spotting should only contain one species, so please delete the moth photo and make a new spotting for it. Then, spiders are not insects (they are arachnids) so this needs to be removed from the "Insects of Florida" mission. Lastly, please do not put anything in the scientific name box other than a scientific name. Since you have put something there, this spotting shows as being identified which is obviously not the case. Simply tick the "Help me ID this species" box to show others you need help with it. More info can be found in our FAQ, thank you! www.projectnoah.org/faq
