Rufous-bellied Thrush (zorzal común)

Turdus rufiventris

Description:

The rufous-bellied thrush can be found all over Uruguay and can be seen in parks, woods and even in the city. This one was spotted at a seaside resort, Parque del Plata, Canelones, taking a bath on a street puddle after a heavy rain. It is difficult to differentiate male and female as both have similar colors and features; however, the female tends to be bigger. These birds eat both insects and fruit.

Habitat:

They can be found in Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia.

Notes:

The rufous-bellied thrush or zorzal común, as we call them, have sing beautifully, in a very melodious way. I found a video showing the way in which they sing in the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4P__Ze4i...
