Rainbow Lorikeet

Trichoglossus Moluccanus

Description:

These beautifully coloured Lorikeets are True Parrots within the Psittacoidea superfamily in the order Psittaciformes. There are native to the east coast of Australia and this pair was actively hunting for a nest site in the chimneys and roof tops of Sydney Harbour. These Lorikeets mate for life and although answer a call to travel in flocks, soon break away into mating pairs again. Male and female can be identified by behaviour and colouring.

Habitat:

Diverse range from tropical beach to urban centre
