Bold Jumping Spider

Phidippus audax

Description:

Beautiful jumper, with iridescent green chelicerae (jaws). Very large for a jumping spider. I think this one is a female, because the pedipalps are not bulbous. In one of the photos, it's on its back playing dead. Don't worry, though; no spiders were harmed in the making of this series :)

Habitat:

Found on the sidewalk in my apartment complex. Jumping spiders wander around hunting during the day.
