Bald Eagle

Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Description:

Our National bird. You'd have figured I'd have had one of these up a lot sooner but who can tell. These majestic sea eagles take up residence at the Tulsa Zoo as rehab animals. Also, have you ever heard the vocalization of these things? They don't have that commanding "Tsssr" sound that most hawks and falcons do. They kind of sound like slightly more buff seagulls, which is kinda sad.

Habitat:

Its range includes most of Canada and Alaska, all of the contiguous United States, and northern Mexico
