Summer Tanager - Male

Piranga rubra

Habitat:

riparian woodland

Notes:

An incredible bird to see and hear! I didn't expect to see this stunning lifer when I briefly visited the Verde River. It has a song that is somewhat similar to that of an American Robin. My non-birder Brother pointed it out. This is my pick for spotting # 1,200!
