Moon Satyr Butterfly

Pierella luna luna

Description:

This butterfly stayed close to the ground, deep in the forest undergrowth where it was dark. I often disturbed them while walking along a path deep in the forest. It likes clear trails in the forest, and secondary forest edges adjacent to forested areas.

Habitat:

tropical rainforest 200-1400m elevation.
