Description:

Pico cónico, rabo largo. Macho color negro-violeta brillante mientras la hembra y machos jóvenes tienen la coloración parda. El macho puede parecer solamente negro bajo sombra pero cuando la luz del sol es intensa se puede apreciar el color violeta de sus plumas. Conical beak, long tail, male's are shiny black-violet, the females & young males are brown. Males may look black in dim light but you can see the violet color of their feathers when the sunlight is very intense.

Habitat:

South-east of United States, Yucatan Peninsula, Greater Antilles, Lesser Antilles, South America.
