Love this insect, a very handsome fellow! But, since he is not a beetle, would you remove it from the Beetles of Costa Rica Mission? Please continue to add your beetles though...

Yeah, it's Pachycoris torridus - a very polymorphic species. Just published a paper about it.

Shield Bug is correct, but it is another family: Scutelleridae and most probably Pachycoris torridus.
