Blue-Gray Tanager

Thraupis episcopus

Description:

While visiting a tribal village along the amazon river I noticed a small baby bird sleeping on a pole inside a wooden hut. I think the local people were feeding it.

Juvenile Palm Tanager would show darker wing tips on the primaries. Under a flash, the Blue-gray Tanager would exhibit this coloration. Given its anthropogenic abundance in populized areas, I'd suggest it as being a best ID.
