Crotalus cerastes
This rattle snake was found by my freind Evan was walking ahead of me on a trail during a hiking trip; luckily he was not bit. My father took the picture. -Green Ridge Mountain Trail in Western MD.
They are native in North America and Southwestern Canada but are more commanly found in hotter places such as Central America or Mexico.
And saying that they are more common in hotter places is kind of true but not exactly these snakes can be very abundant along with the eastern diamond back pygmy rattlesnake and massasaguas in cooler places and forests some of these species can't live in desert or hot climates.
Crotalus cerestes is the sidewinder this is a timber or canebreak rattlesnake cool spotting, But I would not consider it luck that he was not bit these snakes are very submissive and layed back as long as left alone the chance of a bite is little to none am glad the snake was observed and not harmed!
