Mini Tachinid Fly

Description:

A very tiny Tachinid Fly of 3 mm in length. Most Tachinids are parasites of other arthropods in their larval stages, this one is so small, it must parasitize other micro arthropods. It is the smallest Tachinid I have come across.

Habitat:

Garden lights, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.

Notes:

The wing venation pattern is typical Tachinid: http://drawwing.org/insect/drino-antenna...
