Poencilanthrax lucifer
Mating bee flies. It doesn't have a common name that I'm aware of. I'm calling it a "Light-bringing Bee Fly." From Latin "lucifer" meaning "light-bringing".
I see these all around our rural acre, especially the sunny wildflower field out back.
