Description:

About 25-28 millimeters, all-black with striated elytra (wing covers).

Habitat:

Attracted to lights at night at retirement community, adjacent to pecan orchard. Native habitat is Sonoran Desert grassland community with mesquite trees.

Notes:

These beetles are large, agile predators of other insects.
