Northern Mockingbird (and Nest)

Mimus polyglottos

Description:

I can't tell if this is a male or female, but it seems awfully interested in the nest in this tree. It's the perfect height off the ground (about 7-7.5 feet), and rather than looking like last years' leftovers (I have read mockingbirds don't typically reuse nests) this one looks freshly put together and "move in ready." January seems awfully early for this (even in Georgia), but the mockingbirds probably know what they are doing!

Notes:

Spotted near utility pole #57 - near the parking lot for an office building complex in Kennesaw, GA
