Graceful Parasol

Macrolepiota clelandii

Description:

Warty rounded cap on a delicate stem with an annulus about 2/3rds up the stipe which was colour graduated cream at the top to cocoa coloured at the base. Densely packed gills of white. This was a fairly young one and the pileus would flatten with age.

Habitat:

In a national park on a sandy fire break road. Growing from soil amongst grasses, mosses and lichens.

Notes:

A very common mushroom in Australia and NZ. also known as 'Bush parasol' and 'Slender parasol'
