Chelydra serpentina
Think this little guy is a alligator snapping turtle.
Cute baby turtle. I agree with Ashley on this. The turtle you found is certainly a Common Snapping Turtle. Did this little one get released after the photo shoot?
Michelle, this is not an alligator snapping turtle! If nothing else, looks at the eyes. Alligator snappers have fleshy "eyelashes", commons do not. Yours does not. I do not understand why you think this is an alligator snapper still, the link in my suggestion, plus the link Cutter9311 provided both should tell you this is a common snapping turtle. I don't know what else you need to convince you, but I promise you this is a common snapping turtle.
Think I'm leaning toward the alligator snapping turtle. Thinking this baby had more of a hooked mouth/nose.
Thank you both for your comments. Still pretty confused as to identification. Ill look at references.
You don't even have to scroll very far down, in the second sentence is where she says it is a common snapping turtle.
This is not an alligator snapping turtle. Both species have rows of spines down the carapace as babies. If you look at the link in my ID suggestion, it explains the differences between the two species. You should actually read the link you just posted. The person corrected themselves after many people told them it was a COMMON snapping turtle. Just like this one is.
The thing that makes me wonder if this is a Common Snapping Turtle as previously suggested is the carapiece.
Here's some photos of someone holding a baby Alligator Snapping Turtle for reference,

and I'll admit between it and the Common as babies I'm having trouble myself. The carapiece seems the winning bid towards Alligator though.
