Cooper's Hawk

Accipiter cooperii

Description:

Small hawk gray on back and cap and the front is reddish barring. Sometimes mistaken for a Sharp-shinned Hawk which is much smaller. These raptors are great at hunting in trees.

Habitat:

Though these may eat small mammals, there favorite are small birds. So they can be found where birds are. Fields, woodlands and where you find bird feeders. This one was found where bird come to drink and bath in a local park.
