Boletus rex-veris
A large brown cap (30 cm dia.) mushroom with a white swollen stem. Boletus rex-veris is edible, and may be preserved and cooked.
Spotted next to Ponderosa pine trees (Pinus ponderosa) west of Cle elum, Wa. Around 2000 ft. These mushrooms appear from May to June in western North America. It is associated with pine and fir trees.
For many years, Boletus rex-veris was considered a subspecies or form of the porcini mushroom B. edulis. In 2008, a taxonomic revision of western North American populations of this species was published, formally establishing it as a distinct species, Boletus rex-veris.

Thanks again Machi!
King Bolete?
Thank you Joseph. I got so caught up in newer spottings that I ran out of research time. I need to go back and find an ID for this one. Certainly one of the largest mushrooms I've come across.
This is amazing!
