Eastern Meadowlark

Sturnella magna

Description:

Bright Yellow on breast and brown, white, and tan on the rest of the body. They are a medium sized bird smaller than a Robin.

Habitat:

They live in Meadows, Swamps, open Woodland and fields.

Notes:

This is one of my favorite birds next to my number one favorite the Painted Bunting. Meadowlarks are bright yellow and have wonderful vocal patterns. This one was singing it's evening song just prior to our wind down of school garden work. I have only seen the Meadowlark on two occasions this was the second. They are one of the most beautiful birds in the world and are just stunning.
