Cicindela maroccana
Very similar to Cicindela campestris, but differs by copper stains from the base of the pronotum. Head, thorax and elytra are more or less stained purple. It has a length of 12 to 15 mm. With shades of green and purple, the elytra are adorned with small spots of varying size, white and marginal in rounded or comma shapes and two more white dots in the centrodistal area; sometimes appear too dark spots in the central area of the elytra. Heliophile diurnal species - more active at times of higher sunshine-, has legs especially elongated, adapted for the race. Capture their prey - spiders, grasshoppers, ants, butterflies and caterpillars - chasing after them with short flights and long runs. Like the Green tiger beetle (Cicindela campestris) is common to find it on forest roads, boundaries and sandy surfaces, especially in warmer areas. The larvae are also predatory, dig small vertical galleries in the sandy soil where lurk with its powerful JAWS hovering outside. As spiders, mites, ants, and other small insects approach they captured them and introduce them into the gallery where they are devoured.
Its area of distribution covers France, Italy, the Iberian peninsula and North Africa. Spotted in a Pine tree forest, at the mountains. Parque Nacional de Sierra de Guadarrama
